NBT AS (NBT), a utility-scale wind power developer based in Oslo, has partnered with WV International (formerly Windvision) in an 800 MW portfolio of wind projects in Serbia. The project companies, which will operate under the name WV-International NBT, have announced that the first 168 MW will come online as early as 2023.

In 2010, WV International commenced the development of the subject wind projects in Serbia. They are now in an advanced development phase and ready to be realized under transparent, competitive, and feasible market conditions such as the announced auctioning system.

WV International has been active in renewables for nearly 20 years and has developed activities in eight countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Morocco, Serbia, Senegal, and Tunisia. It has since successfully realized over 200 MW of wind projects in Belgium and France, obtained over 800 MW of permits, and grown into a team of more than 50 people with deep expertise in renewable energy projects’ entire lifecycle.

NBT develops and operates wind farms in emerging markets

NBT is the developer and operator of wind farms in emerging markets. The company was founded in 2004 and is based in Oslo, Norway and most active in China and Ukraine. NBT commissioned Baicheng Wind Farm in Jilin Province, China, with an installed capacity of 50 MW. This project was the first wind power project that obtained non-recourse project financing in China. Later in 2011 and 2012, NBT also commissioned the Linxi I and II wind farms, located in Inner Mongolia, totaling 100MW.

In Ukraine, NBT is the second-largest wind power developer and operator, with the projects of Zophia of 800 MW and Syvashenergoprom of 250 MW.

NBT has recognized Serbia as a reliable environment for green energy

Since NBT continuously assesses project opportunities in all other emerging markets, it has recognized Serbia as a reliable environment for green energy and decided to join forces with WV International to realize its projects.

First 168 MW to come online in 2023

The target is to have 800MW of wind farms in operations by 2026, with the first 168 MW coming online in 2023. WV International and NBT will develop and construct the wind farms under international standards conforming to EBRD performance requirements and the Equator Principles.

The wind farms will bring significant economic development and tax revenues to the local region, provide up to two thousand jobs during construction, and have a lasting economic impact even after its construction is completed. These projects will also significantly increase the share of renewable energy production in Serbia, which is one of the most important energy sector targets of the Republic of Serbia.
