Serbia’s draft law on renewable energy sources is under public consultation until February 9, and its provisions will be the topic of a round table that will bring together representatives of the wind industry and financial institutions on February 5. The gathering is themed “Wind industry in Serbia between auctions and the market – 2000 MW of green energy awaiting a clear signal from the state.”

Does the new draft law provide a favorable, transparent and stable framework for investment in wind farms, is it rooted in the government’s energy strategy, how much will new wind industry projects rely on the announced auction model, and to what extent will they focus on the market? These are the questions that will be discussed by participants in the round table, organized by Balkan Green Energy News, the leading portal for sustainable energy and green economy in the Balkan region.

One of the supporting decrees will define a model for renewable energy auctions

The adoption of the law and supporting secondary legislation is expected to bring about a second wave of investments into renewable energy sources in Serbia, and one of the government decrees will define a model for renewable energy auctions.

The new law is expected to unlock more than EUR 2 billion in wind farm investments

The new law is expected to unlock more than EUR 2 billion in investments into wind farm projects, which exceeds many times over the investments in future capacities from all other renewable sources.

Attendance is envisaged by invitation only, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will combine physical presence for 10 persons in the conference room of Radisson Collection Hotel in Belgrade with online participation via Zoom for all others, with the possibility to join the discussion.
