The digital Policy Conference of EU Sustainable Energy Week – EUSEW 2021 will take place between October 25 and 28. The organizers invited experts, public authorities, energy agencies, representatives of the industry, civil society organizations and the media to participate and help the European Union meet its energy and climate goals.

The European Union is determined to reshape the energy system, one of the main factors for tackling climate change and making the group of countries with almost 450 million people and candidate states carbon neutral. The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is an opportunity for engagement and networking and fostering innovation among young people.

This year’s theme is ‘Towards 2030: Reshaping the European Energy System’. The main program is scheduled for October 25 to 29 and the digital Policy Conference will be held from October 25 to 28.

Everyone is welcome

Registration is now open and everyone is welcome, said the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), which is organizing the event for the first time, in close cooperation with the EU Directorate-General for Energy. The European Commission launched EUSEW in 2006.

This year’s Sustainable Energy Days coincide with the launch of EU member states’ recovery and resilience plans

Energy experts and agencies, policymakers, companies, nongovernmental organizations, industry associations and the media are invited to present their views and solutions in the area of energy efficiency and renewable energy. The extended program is starting already on October 11.

Furthermore, Sustainable Energy Days have begun on September 1 and 34 have been registered so far. Anyone can organize such events, not just in the EU. They can be targeted at any audience as long as the activity clearly highlights the importance of clean energy and energy efficiency.

The theme is particularly relevant as this year EU member states launch their plans under the NextGenerationEU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility. Some of the events are taking place in Norway, Ukraine and Turkey.

Public vote for EUSEW Awards starts soon

There will be more than thirty sessions at the online Policy Conference and organizers promised unlimited networking opportunities in the form of one-on-one video meetings and virtual stands, for instance. Interactive policy sessions from October 25 to 27 are ranging from financing energy efficiency investments to power grid enhancement to gender justice in the energy poverty challenge.

The EUSEW Awards Ceremony will take place on October 25

October 25 is also the day for the EUSEW Awards Ceremony. Finalists among the clean, secure and efficient energy endeavors on the list are planned to be announced soon, followed by a public vote for the Citizens’ Award, Woman in Energy Award and Young Energy Trailblazer Award until October 22.

The second European Youth Energy Day is slated for October 28, after a two-day hackathon. Teams will compete for awards by developing innovative communication solutions to enhance consumer engagement with renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency.
