Wind turbines at locations 7 and 8 of the Podveležje wind farm have been given a test run, generating the first amount of electricity that was injected into the transmission network.

The tests on the first two wind turbines, out of a total of 15 installed within the 48 MW Podveležje wind farm, marked the beginning of the final phase of the functional testing of the wind turbines and the start of electricity production.

State-owned power utility ElektroprivredaBosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH) began construction on its first wind farm in May last year.

According to the EPBiH, the contractor, a consortium led by Siemens, will successively examine the functionality of the remaining units over the coming period.

The Supervision and Management System (SCADA) for Podveležje wind farm has been installed and partially tested, enabling full remote monitoring and operation from the EPBiH’sdispatch center for production management, located in Sarajevo, EPBiH said on its website (video).

The estimated output of the wind farm is 130 GWh annually. EPBiHalso plans to build a 30 MW solar power plant near the Podveležje wind farm.
